Why Families Choose Us

Why Hyderabad families choose rehab outside the city

Hyderabad runs on business dinners, family functions and a social calendar that often revolves around drinks. Staying in the same circle of friends, colleagues and routines makes it very hard to stop — and outpatient appointments are easy to miss when work always comes first.

A residential stay away from the city changes that. It removes easy access to alcohol, gives time for proper medical detox and therapy, and creates distance from social circles while treatment is underway. In a city where families, businesses and reputations are closely connected, that privacy matters as much as the treatment itself.

Private, Unhurried Care

Luxury residential rehab, with the privacy Hyderabad families ask for

Thamarai is a small, luxury residential centre. We keep a 1:2 staff-to-client ratio — one member of staff for every two clients — so treatment is personal rather than processed, and every client is known by name to the whole team.

Privacy is built into how we work: discreet admissions, private suites, a small resident community, and strict confidentiality practices around your records and your stay. For many families travelling from Hyderabad, discretion matters as much as the treatment itself.

Residential programs cost ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh per month, depending on the suite and the level of medical and psychiatric care involved. See the cost of treatment for what's included, or ask admissions for a personalised estimate.

Where is Thamarai Healing Center from Hyderabad?

Thamarai Healing Center is located in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, in the south of the country — a long road journey from Hyderabad, so most families fly. Hyderabad (HYD) to Coimbatore (CJB) takes about two hours by air, with direct and one-stop options, and the airport is around an hour from us. Driving is possible but takes the better part of a day, so we do not recommend it for someone in early withdrawal. Our admissions team will coordinate your arrival details privately. We also support families from towns around Hyderabad — see our de addiction centre for Mambapur, Telangana for alcohol treatment and rehab support near Sangareddy.

Good to Know

Planning time away from work and family

One of the first worries for working professionals and business owners is how to step away. Talk to our admissions team early about likely length of stay — our duration of treatment page explains how this is decided — so time away can be planned rather than rushed.

Alcohol is often the main concern, but stress, anxiety, poor sleep or low mood frequently sit alongside it. Our psychiatrists treat these together through dual diagnosis care, so the reasons behind the drinking are addressed, not just the drinking itself. Where mental health is the main concern, see our mental health rehabilitation for Hyderabad families.

Recognising the Need

Signs it is time for residential de-addiction treatment

Many Hyderabad families wait until a crisis before seeking help. Residential care is worth considering early if you notice any of the following:

  • Drinking or drug use every day, or in binges that the person cannot control
  • Shaking, sweating, anxiety or poor sleep when they try to cut down
  • Repeated promises to stop that do not last
  • Problems at work or in the family business, missed meetings or lost clients
  • Driving under the influence, accidents, or legal trouble
  • Low mood, anger or anxiety alongside the drinking or drug use
  • Outpatient counselling or a de-addiction clinic visit in the city has not been enough

Unsure where things stand? Our confidential self-screening takes a few minutes.

Making the Choice

A rehab centre in Hyderabad, or residential care away from the city?

Both can work. The right choice depends on the person, the severity of the problem and the support around them. Here is an honest comparison.

How admission works from Hyderabad

  1. A confidential call

Tell our admissions team what's happening. There's no obligation, and the conversation stays private. Not sure yet? Start with our confidential self-screening.

  2. Clinical assessment

A clinician reviews substance use, physical health, medication and mental health to decide whether residential care — and detox — is the right level of support.

  3. Travel and arrival

We help you plan the journey from Hyderabad and tell you exactly what to bring.

  4. Coordinated treatment

Psychiatric, medical and therapeutic care follow one plan, reviewed by the team together as treatment progresses.

  5. Planning the return home

Before discharge, we build a relapse-prevention and follow-up plan around life back in Hyderabad.

On Arrival

Your first 48 hours at Thamarai

Arriving after a journey from Hyderabad can feel overwhelming. Here is what to expect.

  1. A calm arrival

You are met on arrival, shown to your private suite and given time to settle in.

  2. Medical and psychiatric assessment

Doctors review your substance use, physical health, current medication and mental health, including any blood tests needed.

  3. Safe start to detox

If withdrawal is expected, medically supervised detox begins straight away, with round-the-clock monitoring.

  4. Your treatment plan

Your care team agrees a personal plan and introduces you to the daily routine at your own pace.

An Honest Note

What residential treatment can — and can't — promise

No program can guarantee an outcome. Addiction is a chronic condition that can relapse, much like other long-term illnesses, and recovery usually involves ongoing effort after discharge. What good treatment can do is make withdrawal safe, address co-occurring mental health problems, and teach practical skills for staying well.

Our approach draws on guidance from bodies such as the US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), NICE and the WHO: medically supervised detox where needed, evidence-based talking therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational enhancement therapy, family involvement, and a clear aftercare and relapse-prevention plan. See our schools of therapy. Holistic therapies are offered as supportive care alongside — not instead of — that clinical core.

For Families

Supporting your loved one from Hyderabad

Distance does not mean families are left out. Family involvement is planned with the care team, through family therapy sessions and education about addiction, boundaries and how to support recovery without enabling it.

If your loved one is not ready to accept help, our admissions team can talk you through next steps, including how to plan a calm, professionally guided conversation rather than a confrontation.

Going Home

Staying well after returning to Hyderabad

The weeks after discharge are when relapse risk is highest, especially when returning to the same work pressures and social life. Before you leave, our team builds a written relapse-prevention plan around your life in Hyderabad: high-risk situations, how to handle social drinking invitations, follow-up appointments and the support people you can call.

FAQs

Questions from families in Hyderabad

How do we get to you from Hyderabad?

Most families fly from Hyderabad to Coimbatore (about two hours), then drive around an hour to Pollachi. Driving the whole way takes the better part of a day.

Can the admission be kept confidential from an employer or business partners?

We follow strict confidentiality practices around records and the stay. What you share with an employer or partners is your decision; admissions can talk through practical questions about time away.

Is a rehab centre in Hyderabad a better option?

Staying local works for some people. Others do better with distance from work, social drinking and familiar triggers. A clinical assessment helps decide which setting fits.

How do we know if the drinking needs treatment?

Signs include repeated failed attempts to cut down, drinking earlier in the day, withdrawal symptoms, or harm to health, work or family. Our confidential self-screening takes a few minutes and can help you decide whether to talk to us — it isn't a diagnosis.

Do you treat stress and anxiety as well as alcohol?

Yes. Co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression and sleep problems are treated alongside alcohol dependence by our psychiatric team.

How much does de-addiction treatment cost for patients from Hyderabad?

Residential programmes cost ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh per month, depending on the suite and the level of medical and psychiatric care. Travel from Hyderabad is separate. Admissions can give you a personalised estimate.

How long will we need to stay?

Length of stay is set after assessment and reviewed as treatment progresses. Residential stays typically run for 30, 60 or 90 days, depending on severity and progress.

Do you treat drug addiction as well as alcohol?

Yes. We treat dependence on cannabis, opioids, stimulants and prescription medicines such as sleeping pills, as well as alcohol and nicotine.

Is it safe to travel from Hyderabad if withdrawal has started?

Alcohol and sleeping-pill withdrawal can become dangerous. Speak to our admissions team before travelling, so we can advise on timing and safety, and seek urgent local medical care if there are confusion, seizures or hallucinations.

Can a family member travel with the patient?

Yes. Many families accompany their loved one for admission. Our team will explain the arrival process and what to bring.

What happens when treatment ends?

Before discharge, we build a written relapse-prevention and follow-up plan around life back in Hyderabad, so the progress made in treatment continues at home.

Come As You Are

Ready to talk it through?

A confidential call with our admissions team is a low-pressure way to understand what's going on and what kind of help would fit — wherever in Hyderabad you're calling from.
